Carolina Borja is a Colombian musician and bilingual educator. She’s been a committed, loving, knowledgeable, creative, passionate artist and instructor for over a decade. Carolina loves sharing her abilities, knowledge and spirit with parents/guardians and students from diverse backgrounds in kindergartens, schools, universities and academies, as well as her private studio.
Ms. Borja is an eclectic freelance cellist that collaborates with symphony orchestras, dance companies, chamber music ensembles, folk fusion and world music bands, as well as interdisciplinary groups of artists on a regular basis. She is currently a member of the bands Cellocentric and Kombilesa Asé. In addition to her cello studio, Carolina works as a program developer and teaching artist with the Center for the Arts-Inspired Learning.
Thanks to a Fulbright scholarship Carolina completed a Master’s degree in Cello Performance Pedagogy at Ohio University. She is a Martin Luther King and the United States State Department Fellow, among other distinctions. In 2015, Ms. Borja created the scholarship Afro Colombian Strings to support strings’ students from the African diaspora in Colombia, South America.
