Erin Leigh

Erin Leigh is a contemporary dance artist with a history of creating and teaching dance in schools, community centers, and in higher education. Originally from Northeastern Ohio, she is a Kennedy Center and Young Audiences-trained teaching artist, passionate about crafting engaging, dance-integrated experiences for learners of all ages.

Leigh is committed to a joyous and curious classroom that is culturally responsive and human centered. When integrating the arts, she uses creative movement or familiar dance styles to help students explore curriculum topics such as erosion, fractions, social studies, or poetry. Her approach blends brain-compatible dance education with mindful movement to support social-emotional learning and enhance expressive and physical movement abilities. Programs can be tailored for special needs and therapeutic settings.

For over a decade, she served as adjunct faculty at the College of Charleston, teaching dance studio and theory courses, pedagogy, and a graduate arts administration class. She specializes in Bartenieff/Release based modern dance, contact improvisation, and collaboratively devised choreography. She has led dance integration workshops for classroom teachers and teaching artists through the Creative Teaching in the Arts Institute, the Gaillard Performing Arts Center, and others.

She holds an MFA in Dance from UNC Greensboro and is a Certified Laban Movement Analyst.and Information Technology.
