Volunteer opportunities

Help bring ArtWorks alumni back into the ArtWorks & CAL community. 

How you'll help: Help us find updated contact information for past apprentices of our ArtWorks program so we can officially invite them to join the ArtWorks Alumni Network. Starting with our existing records, you'll look up current contact details and reach out by phone or email to more than 2,000 alumni from the past 20 years. We'll provide a script and training. 

Time: About 2 to 3 hours per week, on your own schedule. 

Where: Remote or in-office. 

Great for: People who are comfortable making calls or sending emails to someone they haven't met, and who like a friendly, detail-oriented project. 

Support CAL Teaching Artists as they bring creative learning to preK-12th grade youth. 

How you'll help: Volunteers can assist with one-day workshops or multi-day residencies by preparing materials, distributing supplies, engaging with youth participants, collecting stories and testimonials, securing media release forms, capturing photos, and taking part in observations as needed. No teaching experience required. 

Time: 2 to 3 hours per class, based on the program schedule. We typically need 1 to 2 volunteers per session. This is an in-person volunteer role. 

Where: Schools and youth-serving venues across Northeast Ohio. 

Great for: Anyone who enjoys working with youth. No teaching experience is needed, though a background in education, youth work, or the arts is a plus. 

From setup to cleanup, help us create a welcoming experience for everyone. 

How you'll help: Help our events run smoothly by setting up and breaking down, organizing materials, running event tables, welcoming guests, and pitching in wherever an extra pair of hands is needed. You’ll also have opportunities to represent our organization at external tabling events and promote our programs in the community. 

Time: About 2 to 5 hours per event, typically evenings and weekends. Sign up for one event or several. This is an in-person volunteer role. 

Where: CAL events and external community events in the Cleveland/Cleveland Heights area.

Great for: Individuals who enjoy being part of community events, meeting new people, and helping create welcoming experiences. This role is a good fit for people who are comfortable standing for extended periods, lifting or carrying event supplies, and representing CAL at events both on-site and in the community. 

Help our afterschool and summer youth community programs run smoothly during the sessions. 

How you'll help: Set up and break down the program space, greet participants and families as they arrive, help with sign-in, and pass out materials. You'll also support our Teaching Artists so they can focus on teaching. You'll work alongside CAL staff and Teaching Artists at all times. 

Time: About 2 to 3 hours per week during a program session, usually afternoons or evenings. A consistent schedule is ideal so participants get to know you. This is an in-person volunteer role. 

Where: CAL program spaces within Cleveland and Cleveland Heights.

Great for: Dependable, welcoming people who enjoy being around and working directly with youth and want a regular way to give back. No experience needed, though a background in education, youth work, or the arts is a plus.
