Learn the grid method of enlarging imagery and view the work of Chuck Close. Pixilation and photographic grain, and their role in enlargement will be explained. An eight by ten inch image or photograph is divided into 1 inch squares. Each student renders a portion of the mural in paint, pastel, pencil, or spray-paint on 12 inch square pieces of paper or canvas. Using the grid method, they learn to maintain the proportions of the image as it is transferred to the larger piece.
