“ill(MATH)ic” is a residency program that improves upper Elementary Multiplication skills by remembering answers through original song lyrics created by a professional teaching artist. This residency will will help students understand properties of multiplication. The repetition and melody within the music will help express how elements of music (dynamic, tempo) communicate feelings, moods, images and meaning while cognitively remembering mathematical answers through listening to music and reading lyrics.
In part 1 (5 full sessions), students will be working on numbers 1-5 through the multiplication elements.
In part 2 (5 additional full sessions), students will learn original music for multiplication for numbers 6-10.
