Studies show the more exposure students get to arts integration, the deeper the connections to curricular learning. SAIL is a program that uses a different artists throughout an entire school year. The artist(s) co-plans with educators at all grades to connect classroom learning to an individual art form. The students get the consistency of practice and experience for several weeks, then have the anticipation of learning new topics from a new artist.
As another way to increase whole-school learning, these artists also work with the teachers on professional development, showing them how to replicate the lesson and integrate the arts into their everyday practice. CAL Education staff supports the program through ongoing observation and evaluation to ensure all curricular and social emotional goals are being met.
