Overview

 

Module 1: SALUDOS INTRODUCTIONS/GREETINGS

1) Create a ME LLAMO name plate-Using paper and coloring materials, create your own ME LLAMO name plate. Everyone can create one and take turns asking ¿Cómo te llamas? And responding with Me llamo and then their name.

2) Sing Greeting Song with movements: Buenos Dias, Buenos Dias, Como estan Como estan Muy bien Gracias, Muy Bien Gracias, Y Usted, y usted. (Can be changed for Buenas tardes or Buenas noches depending on time of day)

3) Practice Greetings with your family and friends

4) Review Buenos Dias/Buenas Tardes/Buenas Noches Craft

Module 2: LOS COLORES/THE COLORS

1) ARCO IRIS Project: Using construction paper label, cut, and glue the rainbow in order.  Go through each color on the rainbow practicing speaking and recognition and identification.

3) Play I SPY with colors in Spanish

 

Module 3: LAS FORMAS/THE SHAPES

1) School bus Project: Create a school bus using colored paper, coloring materials, and stencils. Label each shape and review their names. Connects to color, shapes, and patterns.

2) Play I SPY with the shapes in Spanish

3) Take turns making different shapes with your body and guess the shape in Spanish

Module 4: LOS SENTIMIENTOS/THE FEELINGS

1) Monster Emotions craft: Using paper plates, markers, paint, glue, scissor etc. build an emotion monster. Label which emotion it represents in Spanish on the back. Discuss further with youth what this emotion means to better help them identify it. Each monster can represent a different emotion. Youth can also use them to help identify their own emotions if they are unable to verbalize how they are feeling.

2) Play Dough Emotions Activity-Adults in the room call out an emotion in Spanish, then youth will build something that represents the emotion with Playdough or any moldable materials you can find around your space. Have youth repeat the vocabulary word after you for practice.

 

Module 5: LAS ESTACIONES Y EL TIEMPO/THE SEASONS AND THE WEATHER

1) Draw the weather. Divide/Fold a piece of paper into 6 squares and label each square a weather term in Spanish. After you draw-review and read the words.

2) Create a daily weather log. Look out the window and identify what the weather is in Spanish. Write it down and keep the log. Watch as the seasons change, so does the weather.

MODULE 6: LOS NÚMEROS/The NUMBERS

2) Sing and Dance to the numbers song.

3) Monster number Face Visual Arts Project-Using numbers 0-10 students will make a Monster out of numbers. This can be done out of colorful construction paper and glue. Numbers will need to be precut.

 

4) Using different colors make umbrellas numbered 0-10. Have students tell you the number in Spanish once they have added the correct amount of beads to each handle. Once completed, switch to telling them which number to do in Spanish.

 

5) For Kindergarten, take turns making different math problems using los números vocabulary to solve in Spanish.

6) Play Hop Scotch using Spanish vocabulary.
