A GUIDE TO CREATIVE CHAOS

ABOUT

A Guide to Creative Chaos will provide arts educators strategies to advance classroom management across settings including in and out of school time programming. This training, led by CAL Staff, will allow opportunities for shared knowledge and strategizing for youth in all grades and across all artistic disciplines. Through the lens of arts integration participants will transform their teaching pedagogies to foster inclusion for all types of learners while gaining strategies and skills to guide positive behavior supports. Understanding the need for preparedness across many venue settings will be addressed and explored for administrative/staff support and co-teaching models.  Structured planning and adaptive strategies will be modeled and explored as CAL’s unique understanding of multiple settings brings an expert lens to the creative spaces arts educators work.  

  • • explore creating arts program culture as it connects to safety, resilience, choice, collaboration, and empowerment for diverse group of participants.

    • understand the role of mentorship as it connects to arts-based programming.

    • demonstrate an understanding of project-based learning through 21st century and entrepreneurial principles.

    • explore classroom management through the lens of youth behaviors and the strategies and techniques used to support them.

CREATIVE INCLUSION

This module focused specifically on building the capacity of teaching artists across Ohio to provide exceptional services to students with disabilities. Teaching artists received six hours of intensive training that will impart the knowledge and skills to effectively and confidently instruct inclusive, equitable arts programming.

TEACHING ARTIST DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

The Teaching Artist Professional Development Program prepares, professionalizes, and uplifts local artists through ongoing support and training to establish a workforce of Teaching Artists (TAs) that meet the growing needs of the youth in Northeast Ohio.

This program is specifically designed to remove financial barriers that prevent many artists from completing professional development training within the arts or education and provide them with the knowledge and skills needed to work with youth across multiple settings and grade levels. 


APPLICATIONS HAVE CLOSED FOR THE 2023 COHORT

Dates: March 2023 - December 2023

Location: All training occurs in person at Studio 105.
