2023-2024 ARTWORKS MASTER TEACHING ARTIST ROSTER
APPLICATIONS ARE CLOSED.
Become a Master Teaching Artist
Through our ArtWorks program, 10th-12th grade youth (also known as apprentices) are able to explore various art forms while learning essential transferable skills that can help them excel in any post-high school endeavors.
Apprentices learn and work through various art techniques and activities through collaboration and direction under their Master Teaching Artist (MTA) to produce a final showcase- ArtWorks Live! MTA's play a key role in the implementation of all areas of development for apprentice success including but not limited to: artistic, social-emotional, academic, problem-solving, critical thinking, communication, and other transferable skills applied throughout their lives.
ArtWorks runs in the Fall, Spring, and Summer. Fall and Spring sessions are conducted Tuesdays & Thursdays from 4:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. for 8 weeks total (with some later evenings and Saturdays required). Summer sessions meet Monday-Friday from 9:30 am - 3:30 pm for 5-6 weeks total.
Due to the nature of this program and the introduction of ArtWorks 2.0 this year, we are looking for Teaching Artists with an extensive background in visual arts, performing arts, digital arts, language arts, and even other areas not seen as traditional artistic practices. In our premier of ArtWorks 2.0, we are seeking artists with schedules that will allow a full-year contract for all three sessions. Training will be provided in classroom and culture settings, curriculum development, social-emotional learning, trauma-aware arts integration, and 21st-century skills to prepare Teaching Artists for this program.
MTAs are independent contracted Teaching Artists and will be paid a stipend to be discussed upon interview invitation.
We are in search of individuals/ensembles who:
have multiple techniques within their art form
have experience working with high school youth
can teach apprentices with varying levels of experience
can develop curriculum and deliver instruction while working towards our culminating event - ArtWorks Live!
have or can obtain a background check by October 24
can commit to all dates of the program for the entirety of the contract (preferred but open to discussion upon interview invitation)
