ARTS-INFUSED ACADEMIC LEARNING PODS (ALPs)

CAL heard from a parent of the CAL ALP who felt strongly about the positive impact it has had on her family:

“Since the onset of the pandemic, CAL has served as a saving grace for my family. [My child] and I absolutely LOVE CAL, from its loving supportive staff, to its safe cultural location. Daily, with no financial burden to our family, [my child] benefits from small group academic support, arts/crafts, and outdoor recreation. The social interaction has strengthened [my child]’s psychosocial development. Prior to participating in the Learning Pod, [my child] hadn’t interacted with other students in a classroom setting in over six months. The field trips, neighborhood walks, soccer lessons, and other special events can be considered sprinkles on top! CAL has exceeded our expectations.

CAL has afforded me the ability to maintain employment with minimal scheduling adjustments. Truly a saving Grace during a time of economic uncertainty and rising living expenses.”

CAL ALPs have served students in Cleveland, Cleveland Heights and University Heights during the global pandemic. As schools move to a hybrid schedule, CAL ALPs continue providing support on students’ remote days.
