Makeup Your Royalty: Art Of Makeup And Costuming
Makeup your Royalty explores the history of makeup. In modern times makeup has evolved from indicating cultural status to a monetized industry, with an abundant market. This program will allow participants to learn past traditions of makeup and create portraits of social class based on their imagination and creativity. Participants will use many elements of visual art including color, value, texture and space to design a “look” on a pre-sketched paper to fit various face shapes and styles. Participants will explore cultural connections and specific techniques based on standard traditions from African, Asian, and other tribal cultures. A brief story will be created and presented by each participant of their inspired choices and it’s connection to the idea of “beauty.” This program can be extended to the exploration and creation of face charts for stage and screen make up culminating with a fashion show to display their work.
