Creative Play

Creative Play (K-2) encourages young students to find, create, and imagine for themselves. The program utilizes movement games and free-play activities instead of traditional dance training to explore ways that children can express themselves and communicate with others. Creative play includes periods of play with no rules or goals so that students can determine their own pathways to engagement.

Benefits of Creative Play include:

• Self-determination, self-esteem, and the ability to self-regulate

• Social competence, problem-solving skills, and conflict resolution

• Curiosity, creativity, and imagination

• Comfort with boredom or the ability to recognize boredom as an opportunity for creativity

• Improved cognition, physical fitness, and overall well-being
