Voice Acting

Radio on the Lake Theatre’s Voice Acting program introduces students to the concept of telling a story with just their voice. They will learn about specificities in delivery such pitch, tone, volume, rasp, etc. and how those affect an audiences' perception of a character. Students will get the opportunity to explore voice acting in any or all of the following capacities; animated TV/movies, audiobook narration, voiceovers/commercial work, audio theatre, radio work, etc. Students will be introduced to the basics of imitation and impersonation as they contribute to vocal control. Programs will result in one or multiple final products where students are able to hear their voice professionally-recorded on top-grade equipment in the context of a commercial, animated scene, or audiobook. The program is designed to flow based on the interests of the particular group involved and help students to grow their knowledge and talent.

All Radio on the Lake Theatre programming incorporates Social Emotional Learning. We strive to give students a space where they can create and think freely in a safe environment. This program - and all of our programs - are designed to give space for healing and growth in students so that they can use the artform as a learning tool. Radio on the Lake focuses on the power of empathy as a leading light in our programming. Students' increased self and social awareness through the exploration of their character work and voice leads to strengthening skills in empathy.

ROTLT offers the Voice Acting program at any age range in K-12th grade. The program is best suited for mid-term residencies (5-15 sessions), but is available at any length of implementation. The program is available in any implementation setting (ie. In School, Afterschool, Rec Centers, etc.)
