Foundations of Theatre

$0.00

Radio on the Lake Theatre's Foundations of Theatre program introduces students to the world of live theatre. Students will learn about character building, objective, improvisation, blocking, and performance. If time permits, students will learn about the audition and casting processes and be led through the rehearsal process. If necessary/possible, participants will be encouraged to memorize scripts. This program has a performance opportunity for a live production to be put on for other students, friends, and family. The theatrical artform offers a very powerful source for exploration and development in multiple areas of education and self-discovery. For some students, this will be their first opportunity to feel that sense of belonging to a larger group working towards a common goal. Theater can encourage community-building and emotionally-aware individuals. This program is really designed to help students shine; however that may be.

All Radio on the Lake Theatre programming incorporates Social Emotional Learning. We strive to give students a space where they can create and think freely in a safe environment. This program - and all of our programs - are designed to give space for healing and growth in students so that they can use the artform as a learning tool. Radio on the Lake focuses on the power of empathy as a leading light in our programming. Students' increased self and social awareness through the exploration of their character leads to strengthening skills in empathy.

ROTLT offers the Foundations of Theatre program at any age range in K-12th grade. The program is well-suited for any length of implementation. The program is available in any implementation setting (ie. In School, Afterschool, Rec Centers, etc.)
